Les Bourgs Hospice would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our supporters and guests who helped make their Charity Shop-Themed Afternoon Tea a resounding success last Saturday, and raised over £3,000.

Held at The Farmhouse Hotel in celebration of World Hospice Day, the event was a sell-out and brought the community together to raise awareness and funds for hospice care.

World Hospice Day is dedicated to highlighting the importance of hospice and palliative care—services that enhance the quality of life for individuals with life-limiting illnesses. The event was a joyful tribute to these essential services, with attendees fully embracing the theme by donning wedding dresses, fancy costumes, and hats, all purchased from the Hospice shop.

The afternoon kicked off with a light-hearted and memorable moment when Rob Jones, CEO of Les Bourgs Hospice, gave a speech while dressed as the Queen of Hearts. His costume had been selected by Isabella Robilliard (age 10) who raised over £7,000 by climbing Scafell Pike in memory of her Father who had been a patient at Les Bourgs Hospice last year. The unexpected outfit which had been sourced from the charity shop, in keeping with the theme, delighted the guests and set the tone for a fun and meaningful event.

"We are truly grateful to everyone who attended and supported this event," said Liz Stonebridge, Fundraising Manager. "Events like this not only raise essential funds but also bring awareness to the invaluable work that hospices provide. This afternoon tea was organised by volunteers from our Friends of Les Bourgs Hospice Committee, and they did a fantastic job!"

The proceeds from the event will go directly to supporting the provision of free, specialist palliative care for patients and their families at Les Bourgs Hospice. We are immensely thankful to our volunteers, team members, and generous sponsors, including SandpiperCI and The Farmhouse Hotel, who sponsored our arrival drinks reception, as well as the many donors who contributed to our raffle.

As the demand for our services continues to grow, we encourage everyone to keep supporting Les Bourgs Hospice by visiting our charity shops, making donations, and participating in future events. Your support ensures we can continue providing the highest quality of care to those who need it most.
