Family support charity Home-Start has partnered up with Islandmums.com, a Guernsey based Channel Island organisation, for the benefit of the charity’s service users.

All families supported by the charity will receive the 2015 Islandmums Family card, which usually costs £20, free of charge that will enable families to have access to special offers and promotions, often only available to Islandmums.com members, potentially saving hundreds of pounds at supporting retailers, restaurants and a variety of trades and services.

The card will enable families to be a part of the Islandmums.com community and have access to up to date information about local events, businesses and activities to enjoy in the Channel Islands.

Islandmums.com began in August 2011 originally known as Guernseymums.gg. It was set up for local families as a one-stop shop providing information about parenting, child care services and activities in the islands.

Home-Start recruits volunteers who are parents themselves that visit families experiencing stressful times. These volunteers work with families in a variety of situations including isolation, bereavement, multiple births, poverty, illness or disability by simply encouraging parent’s strengths and emotional well-being for the benefit of their children.

Margaret Spaargaren, chair of Home-Start Guernsey, said: “We know that raising a family, whatever your income level or situation is expensive. The Islandmums Card will be a great help to all our families. We are very grateful to Islandmums.com for providing these to all those who use our charity and hope to continue working with them in the future.”

“Islandmums’ core mission has been supporting local families and community organisations in the Channel Islands,” said Sasha Kazantseva, Islandmums’ Chief Mummy Officer.

“We are delighted to find a way to partner and support the hard work of Home-Start in Guernsey and really hope this can make a difference to the families involved.”
