Hundreds of runners are preparing to take on the Mourant Relay Race on Sunday 3 April, as part of the Sure Guernsey Marathon.
The marathon event, which returned to Guernsey in 2020, is now back to its Spring date after two years of disruption caused by COVID. Despite the recent challenges, organisers 3D Events and Relay Race sponsors, Mourant, are thrilled that the race continues to be a success, attracting participants from across the community in this fun and inclusive team event.
Katie Millar from 3D Events said, “The past two years have been a challenge for all of us, but the fact that we have welcomed over seven hundred runners to the Mourant Relay Race during this time highlights how popular the event is in the local community, especially among local businesses. We are grateful to Mourant for partnering with us on the event and the wider business community for embracing this inclusive team event and encouraging people to participate and achieve something very special together.”
The Mourant Relay Race welcomes runners of all abilities and through tackling the marathon distance together collectively as a team, it offers a range of distances to suit all levels of runners. The relay encourages teamwork and provides a fantastic opportunity for people to participate in a marathon event, without having to run the full distance. The relay legs vary from four miles to half marathon distance.
Mourant Guernsey Partner, Alana Gillies Ridout said: "We're really excited to be partnering once again with the Guernsey Marathon in this fun and inclusive event that truly offers something for everyone. The Mourant Relay Race aligns with our firm's core values and focus on wellbeing, teamwork and inclusion.
"Our three Mourant Relay Race teams, including myself, are gearing up for another race to remember and encourage other teams be part of this incredible marathon experience. We're looking forward to a great race atmosphere and seeing many new and familiar faces running along with us."
As part of the Mourant Relay Race, teams of five can register to take part in and win one of the competitive Industry Cups including: The Mourant Law Cup, IQ-EQ Investment Cup, LTS Tax Accountancy Cup, States of Guernsey Cup, Avenue Trust Cup, HSBC Bank Cup, Resolution IT Digital & Technology Cup and the Ravenscroft Construction Cup. All members of the team must be associated to the organisation.
The course will start and finish in the Marathon Village at South Esplanade in St Peter Port, where runners and spectators will congregate to support their team members and cheer them over the finish line.
