Orchard PR’s Harriet Black has been shortlisted for outstanding young communicator for 2014 in the Chartered Institute of Public Relations PRide Awards South of England and Channel Islands’ region.

The PRide Awards recognise and reward the inspirational work of leading public relations teams and consultancies in nine UK regions and nations.

The Outstanding Young Communicator award recognises PR professionals under the age of 30 who have demonstrated skill, knowledge and leadership qualities normally associated with much more senior practitioners.

Ms Black joined Orchard in March 2011. Within two years of joining she was promoted to Senior Account Executive and is now assuming more senior management roles on several key client accounts.

In her time at Orchard Ms Black has also completed the CIPR Diploma in Public Relations and qualified as an accredited practitioner of the Institute.

Steve Falla, managing director of Orchard PR said: “Harriet punches above her weight; intuitively thinking ahead and capably taking responsibility and decisions normally associated with a more experienced practitioner.

“She has also been instrumental in winning new business and in helping Orchard expand our client base in Guernsey, Jersey, the Isle of Man and the UK. We are lucky to have her on the team.”

Orchard is also congratulating former employee Martyn Gettings, of Proactive International PR, on his shortlisting for the same award in the Midlands region.

“Martyn worked with us for two years before moving to the UK in 2009. It is always pleasing to see people you have helped develop doing well in their careers,” said Mr Falla.
