Four Guernsey residents will be in Jersey supporting this year’s NatWest Island Games as accredited Waitrose Games Makers.

Oliver Wade, Ellen Hughes, Kirsten Price and David Rouxel have been undertaking their Waitrose Games Maker training over the last six months in order to prepare for the impending Games that begin this weekend (Saturday 27 June).

Mr Wade will be supporting the Games as a photographer on the media team, Ms Hughes will be based in the polyclinic in Howard Davis Park as a medical receptionist, Ms Price will be working as part of the Games work force team at the cycling events and Mr Rouxel will be a working across all of the events throughout the week.

They will join the 400 other Waitrose Games Makers who are giving up their time to aid the smooth running of the sporting competition that will see around 3,000 athletes from 24 islands compete on the island. The Waitrose Games Makers will start welcoming teams to the island on 24 June up until the 5 July when the last teams are scheduled to leave.

Clare Germain, Waitrose Games Maker, said: “It’s great to have the support of other islands, particularly our sister island of Guernsey. With less than a week to go, it’s going to be all hands on deck.

“Our Guernsey Waitrose Games Makers have invested a lot of time and money to get the training they need to join the team which is fantastic. The amount of dedication they've put in to support the Games is inspiring.”
