Salons across the country continue to inspire their client’s daily showcasing ‘Hair Inspired by Fashion’. ALEXA CUMMINS-LE TISSIER from ENVY HAIR STUDIO, St Martins has taken this inspiration to a new level and won a place at the Mizani Afro Look Award live final 2014 held at the L’Oréal International Academy in London.

This prestigious event showcases the best hair talent nationwide against a backdrop of a truly enthralling hair show. The 6th year of the Mizani Afro Look Award does not disappoint and we were delighted to have Alexa from Envy Hair Studio within the live final.

"It has been such an amazing achievement to be selected in the final 8 from the whole of the UK. Living in guernsey doesn't give you many opportunity to work on this hair texture and I'm very proud to be the first channel islander to reach the final in this competition",explained Alexa,

Salons were judged by the hairdressing industries most acclaimed names including, Junior Green, Nicky Oliver, Charlotte Mensah and Michelle Thompson. ALEXA from ENVY HAIR STUDIO fought off stiff competition and was successfully chosen to take part in the London final.

As one of the judges for the Mizani Afro Look Award 2014, Junior Green comments; “What is special about the Mizani category is that it just opens up so many doors and opportunities for the winner. Winning in itself is an amazing achievement. Entries this year have really stepped up and the looks are on trend which is great to see. A couple of the looks this year really caught my eye!”

The final stage of the competition put Alexa through her creative paces. The live final required Alexa to create a modern colour with a beautiful editorially inspired style and finish on a female model of African/Caribbean descent complementing an Autumn/Winter 2014/2015 fashion trend to create a show stopping look.

Alexa competed in the final on 23 June 2014 after holding a position within the top 8 finalists from the whole of the UK.
