Aurigny would like to thank its customers and staff for their patience and resilience during the recent stormy weather.

Along with high winds causing aircraft to be out of operational limits we also had a big issue with crosswinds this weekend as the direction was South Westerly and didn’t move round to the West until late in the day on Sunday.

Throughout the weekend Aurigny kept its customers informed of any delays and amalgamated flights where possible to reduce disruption. It was busy due to it being the half-term get away, but we cancelled very few flights in and out of Guernsey. Alderney services were affected the most especially on Saturday, but the majority of the flights operated from yesterday afternoon.

To ensure our scheduled services to Grenoble operated we were delighted to amalgamate them, and our customers would have had a smoother journey as we used the Embraer jet. Those customers who experienced delays were understanding and many relieved that their half term plans were not cancelled. We have already received words of thanks from those who travelled and many complimented our staff and pilots especially.

Mark Darby said: “Our customers rely on us to get them to their destinations and in times of weather disruption are really understanding as long as they are kept informed. I would like to thank all the staff at Aurigny who have been involved in the operation over the last few days – coping with the wind and rain and keeping our customers happy and well informed.”

“For a weekend that threw just about everything at us they did really well and by the end of flying last night I believe that most of our customers had got to where they wanted to be.”

Aurigny are proud to have coped so well during the storm especially when other airlines have struggled for example we note that reports in the UK suggest over 50,000 Easyjet customers were affected when 234 flights were grounded due to Storm Dennis.
