Webinar to look at post-coved economic recovery

Monday 18 May 2020

The Guernsey branch of the Institute of Directors will be looking at how the island's economy can recover post corona virus lockdown this week.

It's now weekly webinar series, held on Wednesdays, will be using economic models to assess potential routes to stimulate the economy.

As the States of Guernsey have approved a loan to fund the island’s recovery and have just published a framework to exit lockdown, the IoD said this week's webinar will assess the relative merits of investing in a number of different areas to help Guernsey’s economy recover over different time horizons.

This webinar will also reference the most recent IoD Guernsey survey, where members supported the States of Guernsey’s borrowing, in particular if it is deployed to support significant investment in infrastructure.

The respondents also supported a re-opening of the schools and the re-starting of off-island travel. Martyn Dorey will be among the guest speakers and he will discuss the impact of these different options and will assess what types of infrastructure investments could support the long-term sustainability of the economy.

The schedule and further details can be found HERE.
