First Central Insurance and Technology Group has teamed up with the Digital Greenhouse to run a series of day-long ideathons for 12 to 21-year-olds.
Each ideathon will have different themes based around ‘How technology can be used to solve local issues and problems?'
Rather than a traditional hackathon, which sees teams develop code solutions, this type of session takes you through the stages of idea creation, collaboration and then creates mock-ups of your digital concepts.
Lucy Kirby, Head of Digital at the Digital Greenhouse said: “Ideathons are a fun, fast and engaging way to learn essential skills like problem solving and conceptual thinking. They’re about teaching young people how to turn that critical or creative thinking into something tangible.”
John Davison, Chief Information Officer at First Central Group said: “These ideathons are part of our ongoing involvement with the Digital Innovator Programme and Digital Greenhouse. The technology and creative sectors are fast becoming local industries to watch and the career opportunities on-island are more exciting and diverse than they have ever been before.
“The programme is designed to help young people apply creative thought practically and to develop the skills required for our evolving digital economy.”
The first Digital Innovators session takes place on Saturday 16 March between 10:00 and 16:00 at the Digital Greenhouse and is open to anyone between the ages of 12 to 21. The next two sessions will take place in the summer.
