The Ladies' College Principal Daniele Harford-Fox has been named 'Disrupter of the Year' by the 2024 Véyaon Awards, recognising her leadership in innovative education.
The introduction of the Pathways parallel curriculum was a noted example, which integrates real-world experiences into the school's program. The College hopes this will prepare students for the future, by blending technology, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
The Véyaon Awards are organised by the Digital Greenhouse, and look to celebrate Guernsey’s leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship. The ‘Disrupter of the Year’ category honours individuals and organisations that have challenged the status quo and pave the way for meaningful change.
Ms Harford-Fox believes Guernsey's unique position can be leveraged to become a global leader in education and innovation.
“In education, we have focused historically on reducing disruption! However, in this moment of change, where AI is reshaping the world, we have to be willing to ask questions and explore whether the system we have built is still fit for purpose.
"Guernsey is in a powerful position to capitalise on this moment – to be disruptive in the global context. At The Ladies’ College we have found that our unique island community has allowed us to partner with industry and thought leaders to shape a world class offering. We are incredibly proud of all the work our staff and partners have done and deeply grateful to have received this reward.”
