TISE announces new Chairman of regulatory arm

Thursday 09 January 2020

The International Stock Exchange has announced Charlie Geffen as the new Chairman of its regulatory arm - The International Stock Exchange Authority Limited.

Mr Geffen was appointed to the board of TISEA on 1 January 2020 and plans to combine his new role with his existing business interests.

"I am delighted to announce Charlie as the Chairman of TISEA," said Chairman of The International Stock Exchange Group Limited, Jon Moulton. "He has significant legal experience across a range of different facets of the corporate environment and he has demonstrated strong leadership during his time in senior positions at two major international law firms.

"We are looking forward to Charlie bringing this expertise to the board of TISEA."

After completing his law degree in Leicester, Mr Geffen joined Ashurst law firm where he worked for 32 years - the last five as the company's Senior Partner.

He then joined US firm Gibson, Dunn & Cutcher and, as Chair of the Corporate Practice in London, led the growth of its Transactional Practice.

Mr Geffen has now stepped back from partnership to a Senior Adviser role at Gibson Dunn. He is also a Trustee of the Institute of Cancer Research and a member of the Council at Surrey University.

"I am extremely pleased to be taking up the position of Chairman of TISEA," added Mr Geffen. "The company has a hugely important regulatory role to play in ensuring an appropriate environment for listing and trading on the exchange.

"I am looking forward to leading the team and working with my fellow board members, our Executive, our members and all our other stakeholders."

Mr Geffen replaces Mark Tubby, who stepped down from the role after six years.
