Sure has marked Mental Health Awareness Week by encouraging its employees to think about their own wellbeing with the introduction of drop-in sessions run by mental health first aiders.
The sessions will take place weekly and are open to all employees to confidentially discuss any aspect of mental health with a qualified mental health first aider from Sure.
Sure has 22 mental health first aiders among its workforce in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man and they have undergone specialist training to increase their awareness of mental health issues and address any queries or concerns their colleagues may have.
Sure is also marking the week by running a range of optional activities for employees, including an introduction to mindfulness, a group walk and sessions that provide tools for addressing mental health issues.
Lucienne De La Mare, HR director at Sure, said: “Mental health problems can affect anyone at any time so we’ve introduced drop-in sessions to give our employees a safe space to discuss anything relating to mental health.
“Mental Health Awareness Week is a great time to start conversations about mental health but our commitment to the mental wellbeing of our employees is a long-term one and that’s why we’ve run training programmes on mental health awareness, trained mental health first aiders and provided a forum to talk about wellbeing.”
Mrs De La Mare (pictured above) recognised the link between happy customers and happy employees: “We’re proud that our customers enjoy the service we provide but realise that none of that would be possible without having happy and healthy employees."
