Strong interest in Guernsey Venture Challenge

Friday 08 July 2022

55 businesses have applied for Digital Greenhouse’s 2022 Venture Challenge – the islands first startup accelerator competition.

A wide range of entrepreneurs from all different industries have applied, ranging from sectors including entertainment, hospitality, digital, and retail.

The successful businesses will receive a six-week programme of support from an expert mentor during the summer to prepare for the competition pitch finals being held in early September.

Shortlisting is set to take place over the coming week, and successful applications will be notified on 22 July.

Ben Wratten, Programme and Engagement Manager at the Digital Greenhouse, said they have been impressed with the number of applications and the quality of businesses involved.

Deputy Neil Inder, President of the Committee for Economic Development added: “It's great to see so many local entrepreneurs engaging with the Guernsey Venture Challenge Initiative. So much hard work and creative thinking going into each piece, only goes to prove my long-held faith in Guernsey's ability to grow its own talent.

“Educated, traveled, skilled and ideas driven. What a great position for the island to be in. Good luck to all of the applicants.”

The winners will be announced at The Véyaon Awards evening on 17 November 2022, where they will be awarded their prizes. With awards for startups, scaling businesses, digital disruptors and learners, the evening will shine a spotlight on innovation and new ventures in Guernsey.
