Skip 'blue Monday' and take on 'Purple Monday' instead

With the day considered to be the 'gloomiest day of the year' approaching for many people, Skipton International is once again trying to turn 'Blue Monday' into 'Purple Monday' instead.

Chief Executive Officer of Skipton International, Jim Coupe said its part of the firm's wider efforts to support the community, especially at a time when loneliness and anxiety can impact on many people.

“We’re pleased we can once again bring back 'Purple Monday' and support the community with their mental and physical wellbeing, this time using the wonderful musical talent we have on our islands," he said.

“Loneliness and anxiety are important issues that many struggle with in the Channel Islands, so if we can bring joy and a smile to people's faces on this typically dreary day, and raise awareness for the charities, that’s fantastic.”

The musical twist to this year's campaign will see choirs perform in town over lunchtime next Monday, to help lift spirits.

UK TikTok sensation James B Partridge is also going to help the choirs’ musical journey.

“Music is such a powerful way to enhance your mood and lift the spirits, and so when Skipton International approached me for 'Purple Monday', I didn’t hesitate to offer my support to promote the joyful impact of music and share the message that you are never alone,” he said.

In Guernsey, members of the GADOC choir will perform at Market Square between 12:00 and 13:00 next Monday, 15 January.

They've also joined forces with Talking Benches, the mental health charity set up three bereaved mums who tragically lost their sons to suicide.
