Renowned economist to analyse UK Budget's impact

Friday 22 November 2024

Paul Johnson, a leading economist known for his work with the BBC and The Times, will be visiting the Bailiwick next week to discuss the implications of the UK's Autumn Budget.

The event, hosted by Ashton & Co, will be held at St Pierre Park Hotel and is open to the public.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A session.

Mr Johnson says: “The Channel Islands have always been in a unique economic position and the Budget has possible wider implications for people living on Guernsey. I look forward to breaking down the highlights of Labour’s Autumn Budget and I encourage the island’s business community to come armed with some interesting questions.”

The company hosting the talk is Ashton & Co, a Guernsey-based law practice specialising in Taxation, Trusts, White Collar crime and Commercial affairs.

Founder Dr Raymond Ashton said: “Paul’s unrivalled knowledge of the economy makes him ideally placed to comment on the Autumn Budget. I am very much looking forward to engaging with him for this insightful event and hosting such a well-regarded economist to our shores.”

Dr Ashton will briefly discuss the potential impact of changes to the non-domicile system to open the event.

The event on 28 November is free to attend, though spaces are limited. Doors will open from 16:30 and the event will finish no later than 18:00.

Anyone interested in attending can reserve their space by contacting jane@raymondashton.com.
