The Guernsey Property & Construction Awards, which were due to be held late this year, have been cancelled.
The event is one of many to have succumbed to the corona virus pandemic.
The organising committee has been working hard over the past few months, inviting nominations, submissions and judging the entries. But, due to the difficult position those in the construction industry are facing at the moment, the committee decided it would be inappropriate to hold the awards.
It was also felt that November's gala dinner would be too early for businesses, which will still be recovering from a very unsettling period.
This is the first time the awards have ever had to be cancelled and the team is already planning an event for 2021, when all involved will be able to truly celebrate.
However, 12 November 2020 is still a date for the diary, as organisers are planning a drinks evening for the industry instead. Further details will follow.
