Miss Selfridge to close

Tuesday 08 January 2019

One of the clothes shops in Guernsey's Commercial Arcade will close this weekend.

Miss Selfridge, which is owned by the Arcadia Group but run as a franchise in Guernsey by Creaseys will shut for good on Saturday 12 January.

The top floor of the shop is already closed, with the remaining stock on sale on the ground floor as staff prepare to empty the store.

In a statement, Creasey's said the decision to close it was made after a "thorough review of business."

Miss Selfridge is operated as a concession by Creasey’s, meaning Creasey’s provides the shop premises and covers all operational costs except for the staff, who are directly employed by the Arcadia Group.

Peter Creasey, Creasey’s Ltd Managing Director, said; “we have enjoyed a long relationship with the Miss Selfridge brand.  However turnover has been declining in recent years as operating costs have risen and we have had to take the difficult decision to close this concession.  At this stage we are marketing the premises to attract a new tenant.  This is a key site in the Commercial Arcade, right in the centre of Town, and I am confident we will find a new tenant very quickly.” Any enquiries regarding the premises should be directed to Terry Gardiner at Savills (tel 742280).
