Jurat to speak at Women's Day event

The members of Soroptimist International of Guernsey are holding a breakfast with a motivational speaker to celebrate International Women’s Day 2024.

The event will be held at St Pierre Park Hotel on Friday 8 March between 08:00 and 09:00.

The speaker is Jurat Jill Clark who graduated from the University of Hull with a BSc in Biology in 1993, before starting her career with Nestle Rowntree.

She moved to Guernsey with her local husband Russell and worked for Specsavers before retraining as a teacher.

She now delivers leadership management and other self-development courses at the GTA University Centre, where she aims to help adults improve their personal skills and become the best that they can be. She holds Non-Executive Director positions at Channel Islands Coop and Island FM and was was elected as a Jurat of the Royal Court of Guernsey in January 2023.

Her speech on Friday will focus on challenges she has faced, including being involved in a high-speed motorboat collision that led to her involvement with the charity Changing Faces.

150 people will be at the event, including members of the business community and students of any gender in Years 10 to 13 from all of the High Schools and Colleges. Sponsorship from Canaccord, Grant Thornton Limited, and an anonymous donor means the students and their teachers will attend free of charge.
