Islands staff keep fundraising

Monday 22 June 2020

Staff at insurance broker Islands have donated thousands of pounds to charities across the Channel Islands after keeping up their fund-raising efforts during the pan island lockdown.

While many planned fundraising events had to be cancelled the staff found alternative ways to raise money so they could continue to offer support to their chosen charities.

In addition to the company’s regular donations to Channel Island charities of roughly £7,500 each year, Islands has now made a combined donation of just under £6,000 to five organisations across Guernsey and Jersey and Guernsey.

Jim Purkiss, Director of Sales and Marketing at Islands said he was pleased they could help.

“Islands is a local company invested in our local communities. During this particularly challenging time I am proud that our staff have not lost their sense of generosity by finding innovative ways to raise funds for local good causes and help those most in need during the COVID-19 crisis. Even as we begin to emerge from lockdown, I know we will continue to support our communities to the best of our abilities.”

The teams came together to raise funds in numerous ways, including: the company’s Final Hour Salary scheme and in-house charity Yoga sessions on Zoom, kindly organised by a member of the team. In most cases, Islands have match-funded the amounts raised to provide further support.

So far, £2,412 has been donated to the COVID-19 Response Appeal in Guernsey along with other organisations in Jersey.
