Helping hand given to Bright Beginnings Children’s Centre

A team of volunteers from Saffery Champness has revamped the baby and toddler gardens at Bright Beginnings Children’s Centre in preparation for the summer months.

The clear-up, organised by Audit Manager, Lindsey Dean, and Children’s Centre Manager at Bright Beginnings, Teresa Bott, saw a team of 10 volunteers from the audit and tax department with their family and friends assist with planting flowers and herbs, weeding, pruning, painting and giving the garden area a general tidy up.

The flowers and herbs were also donated by Saffery Champness. 

Located on the edge of Delancey Park, Bright Beginnings Children’s Centre focuses on the importance of a child’s relationship with their parents and caregivers. It offers free and paid for services to parents and their children from conception to four years old. 

Mrs Dean said: “Bright Beginnings is a charity that is very close to my heart so I was pleased we could support it in such a practical way. It was the perfect weekend for our team to lend a helping hand. We hope that the garden can be enjoyed by many of the younger members of Bright Beginnings in the summer months.” 

Mrs Bott from Bright Beginnings added: “We are so grateful to Lindsey and the team from Saffery Champness who gave up their Saturday to tidy, paint and plant flowers and herbs in our gardens.  It’s the sort of job we just don’t have time to do and they have done a fantastic job. Thank you so much.”

Saffery Champness has supported several corporate social responsibility projects within their local parish of St Sampson over the years, including the donation and planting of 40 trees at Delancey Park for their 40th anniversary celebrations in 2017. 

In 2015 the firm also assisted with the funding for a defibrillator to be installed at the Guernsey College of Further Education, next to the park, for the benefit of all those in the area in the event of an emergency.
