The Revenue Service is reminding Guernsey residents that they must file their 2023 tax return by the end of this month, with online filing said to be the quickest way to receive an assessment.

Everyone living in, working in, or receiving income from Guernsey must file unless exempt, but pre-assessed individuals with simple tax affairs, meaning no property purchases, additional income, or claimed allowances, won't need to file again unless they've been advised that has changed.

Online filing is available through MyGov HERE, whilst new users can register HERE.

Paper forms are also available from the Revenue Service counter staff or through the parish offices.

The Revenue Service said it's best to file a return before the deadline to avoid a fine, with more people having to file separately for the first time ever.

“This is the first year individuals are responsible for their own tax affairs, regardless of marital status. Shared income (joint accounts, inherited property) must be split for filing.”

Scott Bloomfield, Head of Service Delivery, said: “We always get a high demand for help and support in the last few weeks and days before deadline. As ever, we urge those who can file online to do so as this is the best way to help us work through the outstanding tax returns and offers the fastest response time for the customer.”
