The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society will be shown at this year’s Sure Big Screen in July.
The film - which stars Lily James and Michiel Huisman - is due to come out on DVD in late August but organisers have secured a showing for the Sure Big Screen ahead of its general release thanks to Visit Guernsey and Studio Canal.
This year’s event will run from Friday 20 to Monday 23 July at Cobo with a featured theme each day; musicals, heroes and villains, books and, for the first time, a people’s choice day.
Each film shown on the people’s choice day will be decided by the public in a series of votes on Sure’s Facebook page. Islanders will be able to choose between two classic films, each of which are celebrating a significant anniversary in 2018, across the three slots on the day.
Marketing and PR manager at Sure, Emily Field, said: “The Sure Big Screen is a real family event so it’s a fantastic coup to be able to secure the Guernsey film this year. It’s been very exciting to see Guernsey portrayed in the movie and it’s had a huge amount of success internationally so we’re hoping that visitors to the island will enjoy the screening just as much as locals.
“We know the Big Screen marks the start of the summer holidays for many islanders so we’re excited to give people the chance to have a say in the films we show this year through the people’s choice day.”
