Guernsey Electricity calendar raises £2k for MS

Tuesday 07 May 2019

Guernsey Electricity has raised £2,100 to help support Islanders living with Multiple Sclerosis through the sale of its calendars.

Each year, the utility produces a calendar using photographs of local scenes which have been taken by its employees.

The winning photo on this year’s front cover, ‘Moulin Huet’, was taken by Sam Thompson, who chose the Mutliple Sclerosis Society Bailiwick of Guernsey Branch as the beneficiary.

A financial planning analyst at Guernsey Electricity, he said: “The cause has a personal connection to me and I would like to thank everyone who purchased a calendar and helped raise money for the local branch of the MS Society.”

The charity will be using the money to assist members of the community with the cost of respite care.

“The Guernsey Multiple Sclerosis Society is extremely grateful to Guernsey Electricity and in particular, Sam Thompson, for choosing us as its charity this year. The funds raised will help us to support people living with MS in the Bailiwick by assisting with day care costs for those who require occasional respite at the Leonard Cheshire Home,” said the charity’s Chairperson, Linda Fermont.

The calendar, which was sold in Guernsey Electricity’s shop in the Vale, featured photos of L’Ancresse, Saints Bay, Amarreurs, Bordeaux and Vazon.
