Caroline Carter will be undertaking a summer internship for the Guernsey Policy and Economic Group (GPEG).
Miss Carter will be working with GPEG for eight weeks before commencing her university studies in philosophy and politics.
GPEG said that Miss Carter’s interest in politics will make the role “a perfect opportunity to experience what a job or career in the field of politics and policy may be like, giving her valuable skills in operations including research and producing publications”.
Miss Carter has previously undertaken work experience alongside a Guernsey Deputy and found the workings of government, from the perspective of legislators, to be “fascinating and complex”.
The work experience piqued Miss Carter’s interest in policy-making. “Caroline wanted to learn more about the different jobs and roles of non-governmental bodies involved in politics and policy so the GPEG internship was an ideal opportunity,” said a spokesperson for the organisation
