First internship scheme celebrated

Wednesday 26 October 2022

Cannon Asset Management has celebrated the success of its first internship scheme which saw four students work at the company this summer.

Robyn Palfrey, Megija Krasovsk, Melissa Dinis and Marco Costa are all from Guernsey and studying a range of subjects at university including Law and English Literature.

Each took part in the new scheme which aimed to not only provide work experience in the finance industry but also an opportunity to learn practical skills including organisational and strong social skills, and the ability to work effectively to deadlines.

Richard van Vliet, Group Managing Director, said, "We were very excited to launch our new internship scheme and delighted by its success. Cannon’s home is Guernsey and we wanted to demonstrate our commitment to the Island and developing local talent. Robyn, Megija, Melissa, and Marco have had the opportunity to be immersed in our everyday workings whilst bringing with them energy, fresh perspectives and a great work ethic."

Robyn Palfrey, currently studying at the University of Victoria in Canada, said on behalf of the group: "We were welcomed into the Cannon family and encouraged to form meaningful connections with our peers and truly welcomed into the Cannon community.

"Working together with our supervisors we were able to complete significant tasks for the company and we feel a huge sense of pride in our work. We know that the door is always open for us and hope to bring some expertise from our degrees back to Cannon each year."
