A former Dragon’s Den contestant is to headline the next Future Leaders Summit for students in Guernsey, later this month.

The event, sponsored by the Ana Leaf Foundation, is being held on Thursday 23 November at the Mourant Rotunda with local sixth form and college students in attendance.

Those 'Future Leaders' have been invited to hear from and meet young professionals to help them gain a deeper understanding of the variety of industries and local career opportunities available.

The keynote speaker, Sam Jones is an entrepreneur, the founder of Gener8 and a past contestant on Dragons Den.

He founded Gener8 in 2018 to give individuals back control of their own data and has recently been offering advice on this topic to the UK's Prime Minister.

Students will also hear from local entrepreneur, Elliott Cockett from The Drone Ranger, and a panel of young local professionals representing the digital, creative and finance sectors, who will share insights from their personal career journeys.

Hayley de Putron, a Trustee for the Ana Leaf Foundation, said the event is free to book through Eventbrite (IoD Future Leaders Summit).

"We are proud to sponsor this event once again this year, allowing students to discover the range of opportunities Guernsey has to offer. We have a variety of great speakers and we hope they will inspire the students as they enter a crucial time in life in choosing the best pathway for their futures."

Glen Tonks, Chair of the IoD Guernsey Branch, thanked the sponsors for their support in ensuring the event can proceed.

"The IoD is delighted to hold the third Future Leaders Summit. We strive to showcase the wealth of diverse roles available on the island and we’re thrilled to have a great line-up of speakers who aim to inspire the next generation of young business leaders.

‘We must thank our sponsors Ana Leaf for their headline sponsorship, Aspida as keynote speaker sponsor, Agilisys for their digital support and Deloitte for the panel discussion. We're also grateful for the support of our event sponsors: Butterfield, Skipton, HFL, TISE, BDO, Specsavers and Mourant. As part of the event students will have the opportunity to speak directly to this broad range of companies about local career opportunities."
