Deloitte has welcomed a group of eight international graduates into the business as they commence their training contracts with the firm.
The university graduates represent a diverse range of backgrounds, experience and academic expertise, with degrees subjects ranging from accounting and finance to social policy and climate change.
Joining the Guernsey tax team is Sharukh Wahab from Blackburn. Sharukh attended the University of Warwick where he studied Accounting and Finance.
Joining the audit team are Raashi Sarka who read Social Policy at the University of York; Diane Mouradian who read Economics and Finance at the University of Exeter and Climate Change, Management and Finance at the Imperial College of London; Solomon Kachere who read Economics at the University of Birmingham and Furqan Khalid who read International Business, Finance and Economics at the University of Manchester.
Joining them is Samuel Hayani, he previously attended the University of Birmingham and studied BSc Mathematical Economics and Statistics and Ella Gardner who previously attended the University of Leeds studying BA French and Spanish.
Jake House, who studied Finance, Investment and Risk at the London Institute of Banking and Finance, is joining Deloitte for a one-year industrial placement before returning to university to complete his studies.
Deloitte Partner John Clacy, who is in charge of the Channel Islands offices, said the trainees would be given "the best possible start" to their careers despite the continuing impact of the pandemic.
"We are delighted to welcome a talented group of graduates to our Guernsey offices this year, despite the challenges everyone has faced as a result of the coronavirus pandemic," he said.
"Whilst their first few weeks with the firm will be different from our normal schedule, we are confident our new trainees will have the best possible start to their career with Deloitte. Professional services have a significant role to play in the global economic recovery and we look forward to supporting these trainees as they tackle the challenges ahead."
