CrossFit Castaway Box 2 is relocating to larger premises at St George’s Esplanade next month.
The island’s only dedicated CrossFit box will be moving to La Piette Complex on 1 August after outgrowing its current location at Guilbert's Estate. The move to the new complex will allow members to train with more space and better facilities and encourage new members to the high-intensity sport.
Co-founder Iain Walker said: “CrossFit has a fantastic presence in Guernsey and we’re proud to have our doors open to everyone, no matter their ability. We hope the new premises will make the sport more accessible for every member of Guernsey’s community.”
Castaway Box 2 has been operating in Guernsey since 2017 and has a sister gym in the British Virgin Islands. The box operates with a community-focused and welcoming approach to all members aged 16-75.
The new premises will enable new grass roots schemes such as a CrossFit Youth, specifically designed for 16-18 year-olds to enter the sport.

Three-time CrossFit European Champion, Rob Wakeham, is a CrossFit Castaway Box 2 member.
This season Mr Wakeham will return to the European stage after qualifying for the European Championships. He will also compete in Europe’s “biggest and most prestigious” competition, the Madrid Championships, alongside elite CrossFit athletes.
Mr Wakeham said: “This is an exciting new chapter in the box’s history. With a bigger area and the opportunity to train with some of the best kit in the fitness industry, I’m looking forward to training there and seeing other Crossfitters in the island develop.
“I joined as soon as the Guernsey box opened in 2017 and with hard work, consistency and a good support team around me have achieved and competed with athletes I only thought I’d see on Netflix. I hope to see more of the Guernsey community join me for a workout in the new space.”

CrossFit, which was created in the USA in 2000, has more than 15,000 affiliate gyms worldwide. The sport incorporates gymnastics, Olympic weightlifting and cardio to support everyday physical needs, including flexibility, strength and stamina.
Head Coach, Charlie Russel, said: “CrossFit is a sport for everyone of all abilities at every stage of their fitness journey. Our new space has been specifically chosen and designed to cater to everyone’s needs and ensure an inclusive environment.
“CrossFit often has an elite and sometimes scary reputation from the public. However, I would argue that we have one of the most welcoming cultures in sport and our community is no different. Guernsey is often associated with a positive community spirit and our members follow this mantra, going above and beyond, supporting each other to be their best.”
The new gym will be officially opening on Monday.
Anyone interested in attending a free taster session can visit the new premises on Saturday 13 August at 10:30.
