C5 bursary helps student towards career in technology

C5 Alliance has announced that Michael Borman will be the sixth student to benefit from their annual bursary scheme.

Following the A-level results announced yesterday Mr Borman, 18, will attend the University of Liverpool to study Computer Science in September.

Mr Borman attended the Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre and studied A-Level maths, physics and computer science but is yet to decide to pursue a career in software engineering, robotics or business driven technology.

C5 Alliance has a strong history of investing in the future generation, with the number of applications for its bursary scheme growing year-on-year. Offering both financial support and the opportunity to work during the summer, the bursary scheme enables students to develop interest in a technology career.

The panel of judges that assess each bursary application felt that Mr Borman had clear, practical experience that could be utilised by, and contribute to C5 during his degree.

Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Simon Tidd, awarded the bursary and said: “We chose Michael because his dedication to his career stood out and we truly believe that the bursary will make a material difference to him and his studies.

“C5 has a track record of investing in local students who have an interest in technology, evidenced not only through our bursary but our graduate academy that trains entry-level candidates on a wide range of industry sectors. Our business is continually evolving and offers diverse career opportunities, so it’s important to engage with the future of the industry and provide them with a development path.  I wish Michael the very best of luck with his studies and congratulations on his excellent results.”

Mr Borman said: “I’m really thankful to have been awarded this bursary as it’s going to be a great help at University. I’m looking forward to start working at C5 in the holidays so I can discover more about technology and gain some invaluable skills for the future.”
