Babbé appoints new lawyer

Babbé’s corporate department has been strengthened by the appointment of associate, Tiaan Calitz, with the firm saying that reflects its continued growth.

Mr Calitz will be providing corporate and commercial advice, assisting on transactions such as mergers and acquisitions as well as advising on governance requirements for corporate entities and their boards of directors.

He qualified as an attorney in South Africa and gained experience of commercial litigation matters and corporate law with Rademeyer Attorneys in Johannesburg.

In 2018 Mr Calitz completed a Master of Laws (LL.M) in European and International Business Law at the University of Debrecen, Hungary and graduated first in class and in 2015, when taking the South African Attorney’s Admission exam; he achieved the highest mark in the Cape Law Society region.

Mr Calitz said: “It is a very exciting time to join Babbé. The firm is growing and I am looking forward to applying my international viewpoint to a new jurisdiction and to be joining such a high calibre team.”

Babbé’s managing partner, Andrew Laws, said: “Tiaan’s appointment to the corporate team underlines Babbé’s ability to take on large, complex cases. He is a great addition to the firm and with his strong background in commercial law, excellent technical knowledge and international perspective he has already started to make an impact. He clearly has a bright future ahead of him.”
