Appleby announces new Notary Public

Tuesday 20 April 2021

Appleby Advocate Lisa Upham has been admitted to the Association of Guernsey Notaries Public.

Guernsey notaries are appointed by the Court of Faculties of the Archbishop of Canterbury and are subject to regulation by the Master of the Faculties. All notaries in Guernsey must also be qualified advocates and must undertake further exams to qualify.

“I am delighted to qualify as a Notary Public," she said. "I would like to thank my colleagues and the team at Appleby who have supported me throughout the qualification process."

Appleby Guernsey Office Managing Group Partner, Jeremy Berchem, said: ”Many congratulations to Lisa for qualifying as a Notary Public. This further strengthens our ability to offer a seamless service to clients undertaking multi-jurisdictional work.”

Advocate Upham joined Appleby in Guernsey in 2018. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2000 and qualified as a Guernsey Advocate in 2003. Before joining Appleby as its Senior Professional Support Lawyer in Guernsey in 2018, she established a knowledge management team at another offshore legal firm.

Today, she is the Guernsey Commercial Bar Association Secretary and represents the Commercial Bar on the Guernsey International Business Association (GIBA) Technical Committee; she is also a member of the Guernsey STEP Committee.
