Appleby has been recognised as a leader in the fintech sector, according to the 2025 edition of the Chambers and Partners FinTech Guide.

The firm achieved Band 1 rankings in the British Virgin Islands (BVI), the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man, securing the most top-tier rankings among offshore law firms. Additionally, the Bermuda and Jersey offices were ranked in Band 2.

The directory also highlighted the achievements of seven Appleby lawyers, four of whom attained Band 1 status. Partners Peter Colegate (Cayman Islands), Richard Field (Guernsey), Andrew Jowett (BVI), and Claire Milne WS (Isle of Man) were all recognised, with Jerome Wilson (Bermuda) in Band 2, Dean Bennett (Cayman Islands) regarded as 'Up and Coming', and Katherine Garrood (Isle of Man) named an 'Associate-to-Watch'.

Malcolm Moller, Group Managing Partner at Appleby, said: "To continue being recognised as the leading offshore firm in the fintech space by Chambers and Partners is extremely pleasing. This is yet another incredibly strong set of rankings and one that supports the hard work and depth of expertise that is present in our technology and innovation legal offering across Bermuda, BVI, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey."

Appleby's Guernsey office remains the only recognised firm on the island, noted for having "engaged and capable senior lawyers that one can entrust with nearly anything Guernsey related," as well as its growing expertise in AI-related legal matters.

In Jersey, the firm demonstrated particular strength in data protection and information security and managed numerous high-value regulatory matters involving payments businesses, neobanks, crypto enterprises, and investment funds.

Chambers and Partners conducts independent research and analysis to rank law firms and their lawyers across 200 jurisdictions globally, relying heavily on client feedback.
