The States of Alderney is seeking expressions of interest for a company to lead the remaining works to the £1.9m Connaught Care Home extension.
The main contractor will be responsible for the completed project which is formed in cavity block, timber pitched roof structure and slate roof covering, all finishes and fittings.
Alderney's Policy & Finance Committee approved the latest £1.3m funding for 'Phase Three' of the works to provide 13 additional rooms for long-term or respite care together with communal spaces, clinic rooms, offices and other facilities.
It is expected that the project will be completed next year, costing around £1.9m in total.
Apart from the Mignot Memorial Hospital, which provides 14 long-term nursing care beds and eight acute beds, the Connaught is the only facility to provide professional residential care.
Submissions will be accepted between 28 December 2020 until noon on 8 January 2021.
This stage will be followed by a Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PPQ) which ensures that only those capable of performing the work to the required standard (and who have a reasonable chance of winning the contract) incur the cost of submitting a tender.
Any companies interested in tendering for the super-structural extension should provide their name; company name; company address; website address; telephone number; and email address to Naftel Associates by emailing 'gary@naftel.co.uk', calling the office on 01481 740474, or by writing to the firm, which is based at 46 Le Bordage, St Peter Port, Guernsey, GY1 1BP.
