One of Guernsey's four 'Accessible Taxi' licences is available for a new driver to take it on.
The previous holder has voluntarily surrendered it, and Driver and Vehicle Licensing (DVL) now want to hear from anyone interested in taking it on.
Applicants need to have a Public Service Vehicle Permit, or be willing to immediately apply for one and the vehicle then used to operate the service will need to be fully wheelchair accessible and meet all of the DVL’s strict criteria with regard to mandatory specifications.
The applicant will need to be willing to attend a training course with regard to the carriage and wellbeing of disabled persons and the successful applicant will be selected based on how well they score in relation to the following criteria:
a) The quality of marketing plan or proposals submitted.
b) Any experience in assisting or caring for persons with a disability.
c) Any proposals for additional or imaginative ways in which an applicant can demonstrate that the service will be helpful for persons with a disability.
d) The hours and number of days that they propose to have the vehicle available.
Further information and an application form can be obtained from Jonathan Guilbert, DVL’s Senior Passenger Transport Officer, by email at jonathan.guilbert@gov.gg, or by calling 202228.
The closing date for applications is Tuesday 18 June.
