The Household Recycling site at Longue Hougue reopens from 8am Thursday 30th May, and a traffic management system has been put in place.

It is anticipated that over the next few days a large amount of householders will want to access the site. Due to the restrictions in place at the site, a maximum of seven vehicles will be allowed to enter the site at any one time, with queueing drivers allowed in on a ‘one out, one in’ basis. It is therefore likely that queues will develop. Queueing vehicles will be controlled by staff along the Longue Hougue access road.

If queues extend past the Aquastar building, vehicles will be turned away by Traffic Wardens and signage at the traffic lights, with signage displayed that ‘Access to Household Recycling Currently Unavailable’

There is no access to the site via the Fire Access Road at the side of CAMS Hire. Businesses as far as A Sparkes Metal Recycling can be accessed as normal, but vehicles will not be able to travel along the Fire Access Road.

These measures are necessary to enable staff carrying out traffic management at the site to manage commercial vehicles who are accessing the inert waste site, waste transfer station and the commercial vehicle compounds and accesses located on the Longue Hougue site. Additionally, the traffic management measures above should assist in keeping traffic moving on Bulwer Avenue.

Drivers are requested to comply with signage displayed, and instructions from Traffic Wardens and Site staff who are managing traffic in the area. In particular, drivers are requested to pay particular attention to the manoeuvring of commercial vehicles, HGV’s and articulated trucks which are operating in the area.
