Non-essential road works to cease

MEDIA RELEASE: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and not Bailiwick Express, and the text is reproduced exactly as supplied to us

Road works have been affected by the corona virus lock down with a message issued advising all should cease if they are non-essential.

Traffic and Highways Services said, due to the latest advice received from the Civil Contingencies Authority please note the following:

All non essential works should cease from midnight tonight (24th March).  The States Works Signing team will be on standby for EMERGENCY WORKS ONLY.  All requests for emergency signing should be made through JESCC (Police Control Room) Tel: 01481-725111.  They will in turn contact the States Co-ordinator.  Signing will be deployed as quickly as possible but please be aware that this will take more time than usual.

Utility Companies and Roads Contractors:  If any roads can be made passable please do so with sufficient site signage and lamps.  If they need to remain closed please ensure that all signing is in place.

Any private contractors with traffic management in place are requested (where possible) to turn the road signing in.  If the traffic management measures need to remain in place the signs will remain in place until further notice.
