Due to the developing coronavirus situation, we regret to announce that the Library is closed until further notice.
Nothing is more important to us than the health and wellbeing of the public and our staff, and we are now convinced that closing the doors is the best way we can help keep everyone safe. The Library is a large public building with a high daily footfall of people of all ages, and as such we do not currently believe we can support the physical distancing measures advised by Public Health.
Rest assured, we will be open again as soon as we can. In the meantime, we have increased the number of times you can renew items from 8 to 20, so you don’t need to worry about returning anything (and remember, we’re fine-free now anyway!) And while you’re spending more time at home, don’t forget about our huge digital collections of eBooks, audiobooks, newspapers, magazines and other resources, all available for free with your library card. Get started at www.library.gg and join online if you’re not a member already.
This week our staff will get to work growing those digital collections, moving more of our events online including Rhyme Time Live, and expanding our Home Delivery Service to people over the age of 70. More details to follow soon. We’ll keep running our social media accounts for the duration of the closure, so check back here for updates.
We know this is an uncertain and difficult time for everyone. We hope we can resume normal service very soon, but in the meantime the best thing any of us can do is follow the advice of Public Health, keep washing our hands, and be kind to each other.
