Play your way through self-isolation

Self-isolation is looking like it’s going to fast become a reality for many islanders in the coming weeks, as coronavirus is spreading around the world.

It is likely lots of us are going to find ourselves staying inside and keeping our distance from others in the next few months, but no matter what happens, it is best to be prepared. You are going to need things to keep you entertained, and also to make sure your mental health doesn’t suffer.

To be prepared like that, your plan is going to have to be better than shutting yourself away with nothing but tins of baked beans and a renewed Netflix subscription. Even if you can’t meet them for a game of Magic, you are still going to be able to stay in touch with your friends every day. Whether it be through an Xbox, a Switch or a Playstation, one of the best ways you can ward off the loneliness and the boredom is to dive into one or two new games from Just Games, particularly if you make sure your friends get a copy too.

It is going to be important to keep each other company, and Just Games have the best offering of video games on the island to help you do just that. The store will surely have more than just a few things that will pique your or your children’s interest. Some of you might be missing the football pitch, and so the latest FIFA might scratch that itch, while others of you might want to use the opportunity to refine your skills on Call of Duty. Some might be looking for a real adventure to immerse themselves in a whole new world – to do that, people should look at the new Animal Crossing and Doom games that are coming out at the end of this month, already available to preorder at Just Games.

But maybe video games aren’t your thing, and you don’t want to spend all your self-isolation time in front of a screen. Just Games still has more than a few solutions for you. There couldn’t be a bigger range of board games to choose from, and if you’re settling down with your family, they will keep you all busy for hours of fun. From Talisman to Monopoly, and Settlers of Catan to Arkham Horror, board games have come back with a vengeance in the last few years, and if you haven’t already got stuck into them, now is the perfect time to do so. As cliché as it sounds, there really is something for everyone.

If that still hasn’t given you any ideas for how to prepare, Just Games might still have answers, because the current situation could be the perfect opportunity to prove your loyalty to the Emperor. Everyone who has ever collected a Warhammer army knows how much time it can take to perfect your force from the 41st Millennium, and they also know how tempting the latest Sisters of Battle are. Even if this would be the start of your collection, Just Games has a huge range of Games Workshop miniatures, paints, books, and there are not many things that will do a better job of giving you something to dedicate time and focus too, and there are few things more rewarding. For all of the bad it is doing to society, Nurgle’s newest coronavirus might be presenting people with a great chance to build their newest force, whether from the far future or the old world.
