Finally, after 2 years of Covid restrictions, we are able to welcome foreign students back to our beautiful islands. Aged 11 to 17 years old, they come here to improve their English, learn about a new culture and have some fun time.
Our host families play a key role in fulfilling our mission of breaking down the barriers of culture, language and geography that divide us.
There are so many wonderful things about hosting.
For example, the chance to help a Student experience life in another country and culture. This is an amazing journey. They will have many questions about why you do things. They will want to try new activities and learn about your traditions. This is also an excellent chance to learn about their country and culture as well. You will be the ones who they will remember throughout their life as their first experience in a foreign country, they will cherish these memories forever.
You will also be able to bond with a child in a way you never expected! Many will have so much gratitude for the opportunity you have given them. Often you will remain in contact long after they return home, and they might come again to stay with you following years.
If you already have children this is a great way to help them learn about another country and culture! They will have a Host Sibling right there! Kids are great at asking questions and often you will learn through their questions. The bond children make no matter the age is a wonderful journey to watch!
Offer our students a profound experience in Guernsey that can change their view of the world – and might change yours too.
This summer we have many students still needing a host family placement 2 weeks at a time starting from July 9th until the last week of August.
