WATCH: Guernsey FC Women lift Colin Welsh Trophy after comfortable win

Tuesday 07 May 2024

Guernsey FC Women started their cup clash with St Peter fast and never looked back.

And the 3-0 win at Springfield in the Colin Welsh Trophy could have been even more but for the efforts of the home side’s goalkeeper.

GFC scored with just eight minutes on the clock, when a lost ball fell to Codie Le Flem who rolled the ball into the empty net from the edge of the box.

St Peter goalkeeper Catherine Perry-Overbury kept her side in the match by denying Calleigh Hedley before Guernsey doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime.

Substitute Adrienne Leech celebrated her first goal for the club, turning the ball in at the near post from a corner.

She had another chance to make in three in the second half, but the home keeper again came to St Peter’s rescue.

Captain Candice Bougourd put the game to bed in the 72nd minute with a volley into the corner.
