A few choice words at half time revitalised Guernsey FC.
But in the end their response was not enough as they fell at home to high-flying Raynes Park Vale.
After a strong opening five minutes, GFC largely fell off in the next forty.
Raynes Park went 2-0 after a great Jordan Gallagher brace, one on 17 and the next on 24 minutes, and they were dominating a game which they could have put out of sight.
But the Green Lions found a response towards the end of the opening period, with Fin Du Port's stunning strike on the end of a beautiful team move.
The side faced some strong words from Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance at half time and they responded, forcing the visitors into some desperate defending as the game went on.
They could not, though, force an equaliser
Vance felt that ultimately their first half performance let them down.
"We were too slow, not sharp, wrong choices and not competitive," he said.
"And so at half time a few choice words were said, and credit to the players, they responded fantastically. And you know, they can now look me in the eye and say, 'there you go'. I'll take that all day long, because they were really good second half and deserved to draw."
The Green Lions are second from bottom in the Isthmian South Central division.
GFC travel to play Metropolitan Police on Saturday.
