Tipper claims second at Accuro Jersey Triathlon

Consistency was the key to unlocking the runners-up spot for James Tipper at the Accuro Jersey Triathlon.

In a weather affected race, Tipper finished just under two minutes behind race winner Wayne Quenault, with Justin Bloomer finishing off the podium.

With the wind whipping up the sea in St Aubins Bay, the Standard Distance swim leg was cut and Tipper was sixth out of the water.

Quenault was nearly a minute behind into T1, but proceeded to dominate on the bike leg as most of the other strong swimmers fell out of contention.

He stormed the 40km course in 1:00.19, with Tipper trailing Ian Jones into T2 having completed the leg with the fourth fastest bike time (1:04.22).

Tipper proceeded to close the gap to the leader as he ran into second place by posting the sixth fastest run split (37:10), but was also being chased down himself by Bloomer, who also climbed up the field with his 34:41 to finish third.
