Runners are travelling from around the world to take part in Sunday’s Sure Guernsey Marathon with the course record under threat.
On the entry list is Guillaume Ruel, the Frenchman who finished third in last year’s Jersey Marathon in 2:21.00, a time that would eclipse Will Bodkin’s current Guernsey course best of 2:35.15 from 2021.
His closest local challenge at the front of affairs is likely to come from Ethan Woodhead, who finished sixth in Jersey.

The race field has again grown, with 207 so far entered for the full 26.2 miles that hugs the roads around Guernsey’s coastline, beginning with a climb of the Val des Terres.
A relay race runs alongside that, with at least 40 two person teams and 80 five person teams ready to take to the roads.
The Marathon Mile has 95 entries.

Organiser Michael Quittenden was delighted that numbers are increasing and the support is stronger than ever locally.
The marathon field has runners from 11 different jurisdictions including people from Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Isle of Man, Jersey, Poland, Sweden, the UK, and USA taking part.
It begins at 09:00 on Sunday, with the relay race setting off at 09:30.
