Scott the provider as England U21s clinch top spot

Wednesday 16 October 2024

England men's under-21s clinched the top spot in their 2025 UEFA European Championship qualifying group with a dominant 7-0 win against Azerbaijan at Ashton Gate.

Alex Scott played an advanced central role for much of the game in which he set up the second goal with a free kick that was headed home by Callum Doyle.

Scott, now at Bournemouth, was returning to his old home ground Ashton Gate where he played for Bristol City between 2020 and 2023.

England were 2-0 up at half time.

Their goals came from Charlie Crewsell, Doyle, James McAtee, Jalal Huseynov (og), Elliott Anderson, Dane Scarlett and Omari Hutchinson.
