Guernsey Raiders returned to the island bruised but unbowed after a win away at Old Albanian.

Their opponents saw four players sin binned during the encounter which Raiders won 37-14, securing a try bonus point early in the second half.

It means they maintain second place in National 2 East, three points adrift of Tonbridge Juddians who beat Canterbury 40-24.

Against Old Albanian, Raiders started on the front foot and were 12-0 up inside the first 10 minutes after tries from Ethan Smith and Josh Poullett, the latter converted by Ciaran Mcgann.

Seven minutes later OA's broke away with Alex Noot scoring in the far corner and Sam Jones adding the conversion.

They then saw Andrew Nurse sent to the sin bin for foul play.

In the space of five minutes the Raiders' front row was transformed, with both James Burger and Martinas Dromantas replaced.

OA's were left another man short when Geroge Kingswell-Watts was yellow carded on 34 minutes.

And it was Guernsey who had the final say on the scoreboard in the opening 40 when a drive from a lineout saw Poullett score his second.

They began the second period in control again and it told with the referee showing yellows to OA's Harry Samuel and Terrl Harry within the first five minutes.

Carter Hacket scored after a scrum under the posts to guarantee the bonus point with Mcgann adding the extras.

The home side stayed in the game when Alexander Omole crossed under the posts on 53 minutes and Jones slotted the two points, but Raiders conjured up a quick response with a Mcgann penalty.

He kicked another three points on 64 minutes after OAS were penalised for collapsing the scrum to leave OAs trailing by 14.

Raiders added the final touches to the win when Mcgann scored a try in the corner and then converted it.
