Priaulx moves on from AO Racing

Wednesday 24 July 2024

Seb Priaulx has parted ways with AO Racing.

Priaulx and his teammate Laurin Heinrich are currently leading the GTD Pro class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship having taken two wins so far this season in their distinctive Porsche 911 GT3 R “Rexy”.

Priaulx will instead focus on his long-term future with Multimatic Motorsports, with an announcement expected shortly on what exactly that entails.

"All of us at AO Racing wish Seb the best and are thankful for the time Multimatic let him spend with us," said AO Racing Team Principal Gunnar Jeannette.

"He has been a huge part of our team as we brought Rexy to life, and we are proud to have our early successes with him on the effort. We are working with Porsche to find a suitable driver to partner with Laurin for the remainder of the season."

The statement released by AI Racing says that "increasing obligations and schedule conflicts have necessitated the transition sooner than expected, but the team remains focused on the GTD PRO championship as they lead the points heading into the final rounds of the season."

Multimatic Motorsports also posted a statement on Instagram.

"With two wins in 'Rexy' already under his belt this year he will definitely miss the opportunity to continue with the highly successful AO organisation, but Seb is focused on his long-term future with Multimatic.

"Increasing obligations and calendar clashes have forced this change of direction a little earlier than anticipated but Priaulx is ready for the new challenges ahead of him, some of which will be announced in due course."

Multimatic Motorsports leads the Ford factory team in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship while customer team, Proton Competition, campaign the Mustang GT3 in other global and European series.
