Carns moves to Guernsey as she takes up director role

Friday 31 May 2024

Sally Carns has taken up a permanent role with Guernsey Netball as she looks help grow the sport in the island.

She has spent two seasons as Guernsey Head Coach working on a part time basis, travelling to the island from Ipswich.

Carns will now combine that with the netball development officer role as a full time position and move to Guernsey.

"I am over the moon to be able to combine my love of performance coaching and sport development into one role for the GNA," she said.

"I look forward to working closely with the netball community on island to grow and develop the sport on and off the court and to continue the work with coaches and performance squads on a full time basis. I am very grateful to the GNA for the opportunity to shape this exciting role going forward."

Her time working with Guernsey has seen the U19s enter the English league system, while the first team has made strides in closing the gap on a dominant Jersey side in the inter-insular.

Performance Director Jeremy Frith said: "We are delighted that Sally has agreed to take on the role. She's already had a significant impact across the island team and the player pathway and we can all be excited about what will now be able to offer us based on the island."
