Guernsey travel to Jersey promising fresh approaches in their bid to upset the hosts.
Both the men’s and ladies first teams lost on home soil last year and will offer a different type of challenge this time around.
With six sides making the trip over, the Inter-Insulars brings with them a special atmosphere for the sides.
Guernsey’s ladies first team have had another season embedding a different game of hockey which has been progressing well.
“I think being a little bit more tactical, and changing the way that we play has really benefited us as a team,” said Tash Symes.
“I think our last few games, especially going further in the UK competition this year, is really benefiting the way that we play and the way that we've gelled as a team. So we are starting to look really, really sharp and connect up a lot more, which is just going to bode really well. It just really comes down to mentally keeping our heads and preparing ourselves for quite an exciting match.”
Men’s 1st XI coach Ed Benfield said his side had learnt a lot from the EH cup campaign this season.
Four weeks ago they lost out in agonising fashion in the quarter final of the EH Men’s Tier Two Championships to East Grinstead 2nds, letting a two goal lead slip.
“There's been a real battle for selection, and people have been working their socks off to make it into the team,” he said.
“Sadly, two or three of the lads have missed out. But that's just a sign of our strength and depth and having that competition to play has created an atmosphere where everybody is really up for the game and really excited.”
