Lizzie Singer has one overriding message, that whoever you are, do not put barriers in front of yourself or let others do so.
“I think you can really find yourself in this sport,” she told the Cool Down podcast as she reflected on becoming Guernsey’s strongest women and in the process breaking the tyre deadlift record.
There is more to come.
She took up strongman in April 2022 and having taken part in just five competitions is now focussed on UK Natural Strongman and the qualification round in February which could be the springboard.
Singer emphasises the welcoming nature of the strongman community and the variety of people that take part.
"I've never really wanted to be put into a box of any kind, and I think it's really freeing. The kinds of people, the kinds of events, the whole package of variety really appeals to me."
Guernsey's Strongest will be back next year on Saturday 13 September and there are plans to have smaller competitions as well.
Anyone interested in the sport is encouraged to join the Facebook page where they can find help, advice and more on the training opportunities available from the likes of Gail Girard.
Singer is also keen to guide people, visit HERE for more information.
