Sarnian star-girl Maya Le Tissier has been given the armband at Manchester United.
The 22-year-old centre back from Guernsey now leads the dressing at the nascent club.
She joined the club two years ago on a permanent move from Brighton & Hove Albion and is now cemented herself firmly within her new team.
Le Tissier takes the armband from Katie Zelem who departed the club this summer.
It’s been a big year for her contributing to a record 14 clean sheets in the Barclays Women’s Super League, as well as starring in United’s first ever Women’s FA Cup victory this summer.
She said: “It’s an honour to be named captain of this great football club and I will wear the armband with real pride, to help drive this team to success on and off the field”.
Last season, Le Tissier was jointly voted as the Reds' Players' Player of the Year alongside Ella Toone, picked by their team-mates. Tooney has been selected as our new vice-captain.
